McDonogh Traditional Baseball School

Al Poklemba, McDonogh's Head Varsity Baseball Coach and Camp Director, brings years of success and experience teaching and coaching players of all ages. The program is geared toward all ability levels, integrating high-quality instruction with the McDonogh Baseball philosophy of team spirit and cooperation. The goal of the camp is to teach and drill the individual fundamentals of baseball and concepts of team play. In addition to playing games in McDonogh's newly renovated stadium, players will train and practice in outdoor and indoor batting ranges and benefit from multiple-station instruction.


The McDonogh Soccer Summer Camp

Ages: Boys 7 to 14
Hours: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Directed by McDonogh Boys Varsity Head Coach Brandon Quaranta, this camp is designed for soccer players of all levels and is structured around the fundamentals that established McDonogh's nationally-ranked boys program. Younger players will be provided basic skills, techniques, and simple game concepts. The more elite players will learn the core technical and tactical principles the identify McDonogh Soccer. Each camper will have fun learning the game and acquiring skills that will help them reach their soccer potential. This camp is offered in conjunction with Baltimore Celtic SC.

McDonogh Elite Baseball "Boot" Camp

Ages: Boys 11 to 15
For advanced skilled players, travel and academy team players only.
Hours: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Under the direction of McDonogh’s head baseball coach Al Poklemba, this Elite Baseball “Boot” Camp is designed for advanced baseball players who have acquired experience playing travel or tournament baseball. Coach Poklemba will stress the equal importance of fundamentals and hard work necessary to improve advanced skill players to become more complete players. All aspects of the game will be covered and the daily goal of the program is for each player to improve their game by accomplishing one attainable skill or concept each day.

Players will not only work on and refine the basic skill sets, but they will be encouraged to build on advanced skills to help them perform better and succeed at the next level of play. Daily routines and lessons will be conducted with personal demonstrations, a wide variety of drills, conditioning and some game competition. Campers will leave camp each day with a well-schooled mind and body for the game of baseball.

McDonogh Baseball School - Pitching and Catching Camp

Ages: Boys 11 to 15
Hours: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Dates: June 29 to July 2 (4th of July Week)

Directed by McDonogh’s Head Baseball coach, Al Poklemba, this one week pitching/catching camp is designed to cover various pitching and catching drills, proper mechanics and techniques through specific position instruction. The program goal is for pitchers to develop proper mechanics utilizing a professional progression approach. Catchers will be trained and drilled on receiving, framing, blocking, releasing and throwing techniques. Catchers and pitchers will work on individual skills together individually in the stadium bull pen and in live game-like situations.

This clinic will be run in conjunction with our three-week traditional baseball School Camp.


McDonogh Baseball School - Hitting Camp

Ages: Boys 11 to 15
Hours: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Dates: July 6 to July 10
Tuition: $325
For travel and academy players with advanced skills only.

Under the direction of McDonogh’s Head Baseball Coach, Al Poklemba, the hitting camp is designed for travel and tournament team players to further develop their swings and hopefully increase their batting average. The goal of this one week hitting clinic is to break down the hitting process utilizing specific drill training. With an emphasis on contact hitting, situational hitting and bunting techniques, drills will be introduced with consistency and repetition. Various segments will feature instruction with live pitching, short toss, soft toss and tee work. Specific instruction will focus on hitting the curve and off speed pitches.

This clinic will be run in conjunction with our three-week traditional baseball School Camp.


The McDonogh Lacrosse Academy

Ages: Boys 6 to 14
Hours: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Dates: June 22 to June 26
Dates: July 13 to July 17
Tuition: $325 per week

Suitable for beginners and less-experienced players, this camp will cover the fundamental aspects of lacrosse. McDonogh’s Head Varsity Boys Lacrosse Coach, Andy Hilgartner, directs this camp assisted by a staff of top high school coaches and college/high school players. Each day will include individual and team instruction focusing on the important fundamentals of the game. We will also present opportunities for small-side games and contests.

Campers must provide their own equipment that includes helmet, mouthpiece, shoulder pads, arm pads, gloves, stick, and cleats.


The McDonogh Lacrosse Academy: Advanced Skills Camp

Maryland Future Champs Wrestling Camp

Ages: Boys 7 to 17
Hours: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Dates: June 29 - July 2 (4th of July Week)
Tuition: $260

Directed by McDonogh Head Varsity Wrestling Coach and NCAA All-American Pete Welch, this program is designed for the beginner as well as the advanced wrestler. All wrestlers will be grouped by age, weight, and skill level. Each group will learn new techniques taught by top college and high school coaches and wrestlers. Time will also be devoted to review, drilling, and live wrestling. The final afternoon session will consist of a tournament where wrestlers can test their newly learned skills.


Mighty Mites Novice Wrestling Camp

Ages: Boys 5 to 8
Hours: 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Dates: June 29 - July 2 (4th of July Week)
Tuition: $100
(Transportation and lunch are not available)

Directed by McDonogh Head Varsity Coach and NCAA All-American Pete Welch, boys will learn beginner wrestling techniques and skills, as well as participate in games and activities that will enhance learning wrestling.


McDonogh Football Camp 1 & 2

Ages: Boys 6 to 14
Hours: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Dates: Session I: July 6 to July 10
Dates: Session II: July 27 to July 31
Tuition: $325 per session

Directed by McDonogh Head Varsity Football Coach Dominic Damico, this is a non-contact football camp with no pads or helmets used. Designed for novices as well as experienced players, the camp will offer a week of instruction and fundamental skill development.


Rising Star Boys Basketball

Ages: Boys 8 to 15
Hours: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Dates: Session 1: July 13 to July 17
Dates: Session 2: July 20 to July 24
Tuition: $325 per session

Directed by McDonogh Head Varsity Boys' Basketball Coach Donta Evans these three camps stress both fundamentals and fun. Each morning will consist of station work emphasizing fundamentals such as ball handling, passing, shooting, moving without the ball, and rebounding. In the afternoon, each camper will be placed on a 5-on-5 team that will compete in an eight-team division. Each team will have its own coach and divisions will be separated by age and ability level.

Housed in the Rollins-Luetkemeyer Athletic Center, with 5 full courts and 16 baskets, Rising Star offers a tremendous opportunity for players of all ages and skill levels to reach their fullest potential.


McDonogh International Soccer School:
Boys General Skills

Ages: Boys 6 to 14

The McDonogh International Soccer School for Boys General Skills Camp is designed to introduce players to the world of international soccer. Directed by Sean Rush, former professional international soccer player, youth coach and President of Pipeline International Soccer Academy and assisted by international coaches, players and scouts as well as local assistants. The Soccer School will focus on the technical training elements used by professional soccer players worldwide. Ball control, ball movement, shooting, passing and spacial awareness will be the focus of this program. Although learning is the primary objective, this program will be fun for all. This program sold out the last six years!


McDonogh International Soccer School:
Team Training Camp

Ages: Boys 7 to 14
Hours: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Dates: July 6 to July 10
Tuition: $195 per player (minimum 10 players per team

The McDonogh International Soccer School: Team Training Camp is designed to assist already formed travel or club teams in all aspects of the game. Professional coaches will individually work with teams to assess their strengths and weaknesses. Attacking and defending as a team, shape, vision, communication, and skill development will be emphasized in this program.

Please note players must register as a team and all registrations must be received in one team envelope. Please do not register online for this program!


McDonogh International Soccer School:Half-Day Soccer/Half-Day Tennis

This camp is designed to give participants an opportunity to play both sports within one week. Players will attend the General Skills Soccer Camp in the morning and Tennis Camp in the afternoon.

The McDonogh International Soccer School: Half-Day Soccer, Half-Day Rock Wall and Ropes Camp is designed to allow players to participate in and receive the benefit of both activities within one week. Campers will attend our General Skills Soccer Camp from 9 a.m. until lunch and then visit our Rock Wall and Ropes Course after lunch until 4 p.m.

Boys Advanced Skills

The McDonogh International Soccer School: Advanced Program is designed to offer the highest level of tactical and technical training and conditioning for both field players and goalkeepers. The program is directed by former European professional soccer player Sean Rush and his staff of international coaches, players, and scouts. The program is purposely scheduled prior to the beginning of the United States Youth Soccer Association seasons and will prepare players for the beginning of club competition.This program sold out the last four years!

Club Level Camp

The McDonogh International Soccer School Club Level Camp is designed to train aspiring club-level players and teams for the upcoming 2015–2016 club season. The program is directed by Sean Rush, former European soccer professional, and his staff of international coaches, players, and scouts.

The McDonogh International Soccer School Striker Camp is designed to focus on the most sought-after position on any team, the goal scorer. Instruction will be offered on finishing of all types. The camp is directed by Sean Rush and his staff of international coaches, strikers, and goal scorers. Each participant will receive the opportunity to take over 1,000 shots from every angle and spot on the field, including instep volleys, bicycle kicks, corners, headers, toe pokes, penalties, and more. This program sold out in 2014.

The McDonogh International Soccer School Midfielder Camp is designed to teach the technical and tactical skills needed to be a successful midfielder. The program is directed by Sean Rush and his staff of international coaches and professional midfielders. The program will focus on reading the game, spatial awareness, positioning, and understanding the flow of play. The player will have the opportunity to excel at one of the most grueling positions on the field.This program sold out in 2014.

The McDonogh International Soccer School Defender Camp is designed to teach the technical and tactical skills needed to be a successful defender and to improve each camper’s skills. The camp is directed by Sean Rush and his staff of international coaches and professional defenders. The program will focus on reading the game, spatial awareness, positioning, timing of tackles, attacking from a defensive position, communication, and concentration.

Boys Goalkeeper Camp

The McDonogh International Soccer School Goalkeeper Camp is designed to teach the technical and tactical skills needed to be a successful goalkeeper and to improve each camper’s skills. The camp is directed by Sean Rush and his staff of international coaches and professional goalkeepers. Each goalkeeper will be encouraged to test his limits during training sessions and game situations. Instruction will be offered in shot stopping, crosses, ball distribution, communication, concentration, and organization of the defense. This program sold out in 2014.


Matt Stover Kicking Camp

Ages: Boys 8 to 18
Hours: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Dates: June 21
Tuition: $120

Former Baltimore Ravens and Super Bowl champions placekicker Matt Stover will give each student a highly personal day of kicking drills, techniques, and insight into the mental game that made him a Super Bowl champion and Pro-Bowler. Stover and other skilled kicking coaches will help campers elevate their game to the next level. Parents are welcome to stay.
